The Instrument Rating (IR) programme at AeroSur is designed for licensed pilots seeking to enhance their flying skills by operating aircraft safely under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). This advanced flight training programme develops the knowledge, precision, and decision-making required to navigate using aircraft instruments and air traffic control guidance, rather than relying solely on outside visual references.
Conducted in accordance with internationally recognized aviation standards, the programme prepares pilots to safely operate in reduced visibility, adverse weather conditions, and controlled airspace while building the experience required for commercial and airline operations.
Program Overview
The AeroSur Instrument Rating (IR) programme combines comprehensive ground instruction with advanced flight and simulator training to develop highly proficient instrument pilots. Students gain an in-depth understanding of instrument navigation, IFR regulations, aviation meteorology, flight planning, instrument departures and arrivals, precision and non-precision approaches, holding procedures, en-route navigation, radio aids, GPS navigation, cockpit resource management, and aeronautical decision-making.
Training emphasizes accuracy, situational awareness, workload management, and safe aircraft operation in instrument meteorological conditions (IMC). Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students learn to confidently manage complex flight scenarios using standardized IFR procedures and modern navigation systems. Upon successful completion, graduates possess the skills required to safely conduct instrument flights while significantly enhancing their qualifications for commercial aviation, airline careers, and advanced pilot certifications.
Eligibility Requirements
Domestic Applicants: Must be at least 17 years of age.
