The Safety Management System (SMS) programme at AeroSur is a comprehensive aviation safety course designed for professionals working across all sectors of the aviation industry. Based on ICAO Safety Management System principles and international aviation best practices, the programme provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to identify hazards, assess operational risks, implement effective safety controls, and foster a proactive safety culture within aviation organisations.
The course is suitable for pilots, flight instructors, aircraft maintenance engineers, airport personnel, ground operations staff, aviation managers, regulators, and aviation students seeking to strengthen their understanding of aviation safety management.
Program Overview
The AeroSur Safety Management System (SMS) programme delivers practical, industry-focused training on the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety Management Systems within aviation organisations. Participants explore the four pillars of SMS—Safety Policy and Objectives, Safety Risk Management, Safety Assurance, and Safety Promotion—while learning how to identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, investigate safety occurrences, manage safety reporting systems, and support regulatory compliance.
The programme combines theoretical knowledge with real-world aviation case studies and practical applications, enabling participants to understand how effective safety management contributes to operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and accident prevention. Upon successful completion, graduates possess the knowledge and competencies required to actively contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety management systems within airlines, flight schools, maintenance organisations, airports, and other aviation service providers.
