From a 12-square-metre office to our very first hangar at Carrasco International Airport.

Arrival of Our First Cessna 172

Our first Cessna 172M, CX-LRW, joins the AeroSur fleet — marking another important milestone in our journey and the beginning of a new era of training capabilities.

Our First Cessna 182

A major milestone for AeroSur — the acquisition of our first Cessna 182, expanding our fleet and strengthening our training capabilities for advanced and commercial flight operations.

15 Dec 2014

New Office

With the support of our students and customers, we established our new office and classroom at Carrasco International Airport, creating a dedicated space for learning and growth.

12 March 2016

Facility Expansion

We expanded our facilities by 150 square metres, enhancing our training environment with more space for operations, classrooms, and student support.

21 June 2017

CX-AYZ Joins the Fleet

Our second Cessna 172, CX-AYZ, joined the AeroSur fleet, increasing our training capacity and supporting our growing student community.

15 May 2018

Fleet Rebranding

Our fleet received a unified identity as every aircraft was painted in AeroSur's signature white and green livery, reflecting the academy's growing brand and professionalism.

Fleet Expansion

Expanded our training fleet to increase flying capacity and provide students with greater aircraft availability and operational exposure.

In-House Simulator

Introduced the first AATD simulator in the country, setting a new benchmark for advanced pilot training and safety.

English Language Authorization

About the Base

Carrasco International Airport (SUMU) serves as the headquarters and primary training base of AeroSur – Escuela de Vuelo. Located near Montevideo, Uruguay's capital, the base is at the heart of AeroSur's flight training and daily aviation operations.

SUMU provides the operational environment for a significant part of AeroSur's domestic flight training, aircraft operations, instructor activities, student dispatch, flight planning, and academy administration. Its location within the Carrasco aviation environment allows students to train in an active airport setting while becoming familiar with professional aviation procedures from the early stages of their training.

As AeroSur's main base, SUMU also serves as an important connection between the academy's training operations, instructors, aircraft, and wider aviation network.

Angel S. Adami Airport (SUAA), located in the Melilla area of Montevideo, is an important part of AeroSur's flight training network and serves as the academy's primary base for international students.

The base provides a dedicated environment for students arriving from overseas to undertake professional flight training in Uruguay. From flight operations and instructor-led training to student briefings and day-to-day training coordination, SUAA supports the practical needs of AeroSur's growing international student community.

With its dedicated role within AeroSur's training network, SUAA allows international students to become immersed in a focused aviation environment while continuing their journey toward professional pilot qualifications.

About the Base

Aerodromo Green (SUGR) forms an important part of AeroSur's operational infrastructure, housing the academy's main aircraft maintenance hangar and providing access to a grass runway environment.

The base plays a key role in supporting AeroSur's aircraft operations and maintenance activities. Its facilities complement the academy's primary training bases and contribute to the availability and operational readiness of the AeroSur fleet.

SUGR also provides an opportunity for pilots to experience a different operating environment through grass runway operations, adding variety to the overall flight training experience and broadening students' exposure to different aviation conditions.

Why It Matters

Flight training is not limited to operating from a single type of airport or runway. Exposure to different operational environments helps students develop adaptability and practical flying skills, while AeroSur's dedicated maintenance infrastructure supports the aircraft that make their training possible.
